Terrarium heating mats and foils are one of the most popular sources of heat in breeding \u2013 economical, reliable and easy to install. This guide will explain everything you need to know.  <\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">How do heating mats and foils work?<\/h2>\n\n<p>A heating foil is a thin component made of a resistive conductive material that produces heat when connected to electricity. It is installed under a terrarium or a breeding container, heating the substrate from below. The reptile can then choose whether it wants to lie down in a warm place or in a cooler zone.  <\/p>\n\n<p>This type of heating is particularly suitable for:<\/p>\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Snakes (abdominal heating supports digestion)<\/li><li>Leopard geckos<\/li><li>Land turtles<\/li><li>Rack Systems<\/li><\/ul>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">WRS heating foils \u2013 especially for rack systems<\/h2>\n\n<p>Heating foils with a precisely selected width are best suited for rack systems. Two sizes are available: <\/p>\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><a href=\"https:\/\/reptishop.pl\/en\/produkt\/folia-grzewcza-szerokosc-130-mm-13-cm-1-metr-biezacy-en\/\" title=\"Heating foil 130mm\">130 mm (13 cm) heating foil<\/a> \u2013 designed for the WRS10 system<\/li><li><a href=\"https:\/\/reptishop.pl\/en\/produkt\/folia-grzewcza-szerokosc-260-mm-26-cm-1-metr-biezacy-en\/\" title=\"Heating foil 260mm\">260 mm (26 cm) heating foil<\/a> \u2013 designed for WRS40 and WRS70 systems<\/li><\/ul>\n\n<p>The films are sold in running meters \u2013 you can order exactly as much as you need for your rack.<\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Heating cables \u2013 an alternative to foil<\/h2>\n\n<p>Heating cables are an excellent alternative to glass terrariums. They can be placed under a terrarium or buried under a layer of substrate (for species that like subsurface heat). Available capacities:  <\/p>\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><a href=\"https:\/\/reptishop.pl\/en\/produkt\/kabel-grzewczy-15w-55m-en\/\" title=\"15W heating cable\">Heating cable 15W \/ 5.5m<\/a> \u2013 for small terrariums<\/li><li><a href=\"https:\/\/reptishop.pl\/en\/produkt\/kabel-grzewczy-25w-5m-en\/\" title=\"Heating cable 25W\">Heating cable 25W \/ 5m<\/a> \u2013 for medium terrariums<\/li><li><a href=\"https:\/\/reptishop.pl\/en\/produkt\/kabel-grzewczy-50w-85m-en\/\" title=\"50W heating cable\">Heating cable 50W \/ 8.5m<\/a> \u2013 for large tanks<\/li><\/ul>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">How to install the heating foil?<\/h2>\n\n<p>The main rule: the foil should heat <strong>a maximum of 1\/3 of the surface of the bottom<\/strong> of the container. This allows the reptile to choose between a warmer and cooler zone. A foil mounted across the entire width of the bottom prevents thermoregulation and is a mistake.  <\/p>\n\n<p>Rack system mounting diagram:<\/p>\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>The film sticks under the shelf of the rack (not inside the container)<\/li><li>Rubs contact with wood or other insulating material on the side<\/li><li>Cable connected to thermostat, temperature sensor located inside the container at ground level<\/li><\/ul>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Thermostat \u2013 mandatory<\/h2>\n\n<p>Any foil or heating cable must be connected to the thermostat. Without regulation, the temperature of the substrate can rise to 45-50\u00b0C, which is deadly. For heating the rack system with foil, we recommend the <a href=\"https:\/\/reptishop.pl\/en\/produkt\/termostat-b1-dimming-en\/\" title=\"Thermostat B1 Dimming\">B1 Dimming thermostat<\/a> (infinitely adjustable = best stability) or <a href=\"https:\/\/reptishop.pl\/en\/produkt\/termostat-b2-pulse-en\/\" title=\"B2 Pulse Thermostat\">B2 Pulse<\/a>.  <\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">How to check if the temperature is correct?<\/h2>\n\n<p>Use a thermometer with a probe placed at ground level in the warm zone.
